Zebra thermal printers use heat to transfer ink onto paper. The printers are compact, quick and interface with a variety of business computers and point-of-sale systems. And like other printers, Zebra thermal printers include a troubleshooting feature that lets you reset the devices to factory settings in the event of an error or you want to connect the printers to different POS systems or computers. Restoring your Zebra thermal printer to factory settings clears any custom printing settings, as well as error codes, that are stored in the printer.

1.

Flip the “Power” switch on the back of the printer to the “Off” position, wait two seconds, and then flip the switch to the “On” position.

2.

Press and hold down the “Feed” button on your Zebra thermal printer’s front panel and notice the indicator light on the front of the device flashing.

3.

Release the button after the fourth flash. Your Zebra thermal printer is now restored to factory settings.

Tip

  • After restoring your Zebra thermal printer to factory settings, you can calibrate the device by powering off the unit, waiting two seconds, powering the unit on and pressing and holding the “Feed” button until the indicator light flashes twice. Your printer’s built-in calibration routines begin. You will hear the printer’s internal components make noise, and then cease when the process is complete.
